Marble is a metamorphic rock that is formed from the transformation of limestone or other sedimentary rocks under intense heat and pressure. It is composed primarily of calcite, and it is known for its smooth, polished surface, its translucency, and its ability to take on a high polish.
Despite their shared characteristics, granite and marble also have some important differences. Granite is generally harder and more durable than marble, and it is less likely to etch or stain. Marble, on the other hand, is more translucent and can be polished to a higher shine.
